TIPS FOR USING MagicClips EFFECTIVELY

Normally, magicians are sworn to secrecy about giving away their secrets to the layman. Happily, such is not the case with graphic designers and their effects. Here, then, are tips to help you make the most of your MagicClips© clipart investment. Experiment and enjoy!

1. Use clipart in context with the surrounding text. There is nothing wrong with adding clipart to the document to make it more pleasing to the eye, but the image should reinforce and help support the point you are trying to make.

2. Size the clipart small and use to set off bulleted paragraphs. Use the images in place of the usual round bullets.

3. Combine two images or more in your image aditing program. As the scissors cuts the rope in two, let the hat catch the ends.

4. For a pleasing effect, add a capital letter to the image and let it be an initial cap of the first word at the beginning of the paragraph.

5. On your website, instead of using the tile images to fill the whole background, let it fill only your tables. Create a table, put your heading in it, and fill it with the tile, creating a pleasing background for your headings.

6. In your magazine or newsletter, size a graphic very small and use it to announce the end of an article or feature. Many magazines do this.

7. Use the same image on your letterhead, envelope, advertising and business card to lend professional consistency to your printed work. The pros do this all the time.

8. Size an image very small for the end of written pieces, functioning as lively dingbats.

9. Size a graphic very large and wrap your text around it--top, sides and bottom. Be very bold about it.

10. Roughen up the squared edges in your image editing program for a fresh look.

11. Why not place the images at an angle once in a while?

12. Use the clipart as navigational buttons on your website. They will be more harmonious if similar in shape or color or both.

13. Tile the same image repeatedly down one edge of the page.

14. Size an image very large, lighten the middle of it, and add text to the lightened area. For maximum impact, let the text and image agree in theme.

15. Advertising idea: Put MagicClips images on a T-shirt!
